Things to Do in Batumi

Georgia's subtropical seaside capital — beaches, boulevards, and Vegas-style skyline.

Batumi is Georgia's summer capital and has an oddly split personality — the Old Town is genuinely charming Belle Époque, and the Boulevard skyline looks like Miami tried to build Dubai. Both work if you set expectations correctly.

For a 2–3 day visit, spend one day on the Boulevard and beach, one day in the Old Town and Botanical Garden, and one day on a Machakhela or Mtirala National Park excursion inland.

Highlights

  • Batumi Boulevard — 7 km promenade, best at sunset
  • Ali & Nino moving sculpture — free, 10-min light show every evening
  • Batumi Botanical Garden — 30 min north, subtropical microclimate, 6 zones
  • Old Town + Europe Square + Piazza — Belle Époque architecture
  • Gonio Fortress + Roman ruins — 15 min south of Batumi
  • Machakhela National Park — stone-arch bridges, waterfalls, 45 min inland
