Adjara & Black Sea Coast

Batumi Путеводитель

Georgia's subtropical seaside capital — beaches, boulevards, and Vegas-style skyline.

Batumi is Georgia's summer capital: a 7-km promenade along the Black Sea, palm-lined boulevards, subtropical botanical gardens, and a skyline of casinos and glass towers that earned it the nickname 'Las Vegas of the Caucasus'. In summer (June–September) it fills with tourists from across the Caucasus and Turkey; in winter it empties out but remains 8–10°C warmer than Tbilisi. The Old Town blends Ottoman, Georgian, and Belle Époque architecture, and the surrounding Adjara region offers waterfalls, stone-arch bridges, and the Machakhela National Park within a short drive.

Часто задаваемые вопросы о Batumi

Is Batumi worth visiting?

Yes if you want beach + city + nightlife in one stop, or if you're crossing to/from Turkey. Skip it if you're only in Georgia for mountains and wine — it's a very different vibe from Tbilisi.

Are Batumi beaches sandy?

No — Batumi's beach is pebble. For sandy beaches head 20 km north to Ureki, famous for its magnetic black sand.

How is Batumi in winter?

Mild (8–12°C) but rainy. The casinos and thermal spas stay open, hotel rates drop 40–60%, and it's a quiet weekend break from Tbilisi.
