Authentic Kakhetian Rtveli with Sakartvelo Tours
Sakartvelo Tours Signature Experience
This is not just a wine tour. This is a full day spent in a genuine Kakhetian family environment — in the vineyard, the wine cellar (marani), and at the dinner table.
You will harvest the grapes yourself, participate in a real Rtveli, crush the harvest in a traditional satsnakheli, discover the qvevri wine tradition, taste family-made wines, and end the day at a traditional Kakhetian supra.
The core of this experience takes place at a Sakartvelo Tours partner family marani in Kakheti — an authentic setting where the vine, wine, family, and hospitality are passed down through generations.
🚐 From Tbilisi to Kakheti
The day begins in Tbilisi, where we pick up guests from a pre-arranged address. En route, you will learn about the significance of Rtveli in Georgian culture, the place of the vine and wine in a Georgian home, and the qvevri tradition. By the time you reach the vineyard, you will already feel part of the story.
🏡 A Visit to a Real Kakhetian Family
Upon arrival, you will meet the host family, explore the vineyard, and visit their multi-generational family marani. For one day, you become a guest of the family — here, it is not just about what you see, but who you spend the day with.
🍇 Real Rtveli in the Vineyard
You will pick the grapes with your own hands, gather the harvest, and join the actual Rtveli process. This is not a brief, symbolic activity staged for a photo.
Your First Cluster — the camera will naturally capture the moment you first touch the vine. Not a posed shot, but a genuine emotion.
🦶 Crushing Grapes in a Traditional Satsnakheli
The harvested grapes move from the vineyard to the marani, where you will participate in crushing them by foot. You will witness the journey with your own eyes: harvest → juice → wine.
🏺 Multi-generational Marani and Qvevri
In the family cellar, you will learn the tradition of making qvevri wine, the fermentation and storage process, the history of family winemaking, and knowledge passed through the ages.
🍷 Wine Straight from the Qvevri
You will see how wine is drawn using a traditional orshimo (gourd) and can even participate yourself. You perceive wine differently when you know the journey it took from the vine to your glass.
🍡 Making Churchkhela
Rtveli is not only about wine — you will also participate in dipping churchkhela and experience firsthand how the grape harvest relates to one of Georgia's most famous products.
🍽️ Kakhetian Supra — The Day's Culmination
At the end of the day, you remain as a guest of the Kakhetian family: traditional dishes, family qvevri wine, a tamada, toasts, family stories, and true Kakhetian hospitality.
Vine → Harvest → Satsnakheli → Qvevri → Wine → Supra
🎥 Your Documentary Rtveli Story
The entire day will be captured in a documentary style — without posing or staged scenes. The camera does not direct the events; it preserves them.
After the tour, you will receive professionally edited photos, a short documentary-style video, and a personal visual history of your Rtveli day.
