Tusheti is Georgia's most isolated region — a UNESCO-listed cluster of stone-tower villages in the far northeast Caucasus, reachable only by the Abano Pass 4×4 road (2,850 m), regularly rated one of the most dangerous roads in the world. The pass opens in mid-to-late June and closes with the first heavy snow (late September / early October). For the 3–4 months it's open, Tusheti offers Georgia's rawest mountain experience: no cell signal in most villages, no paved roads, no restaurants beyond guesthouse home-cooking, and some of the best trekking in the Caucasus.

Yes — narrow, unpaved, cliff-edge road with sheer drops. With an experienced local 4×4 driver in dry weather the risk is manageable. Never self-drive without prior mountain experience.
